We did not choose the comparison with Glenfiddich entirely unintentionally, as the two distilleries Balvenie and Glenfiddich are in close proximity. Only a small abandoned railway line separates the two distillery buildings. It was founded at the end of the 19th century by William J. Grant, who, if you know a little about the world of whisky, is also known as the founder of Glenfiddich and near whom the Balvenie distillery is also located. At first, whisky was produced specifically for the company's own blending. In 1973, single malt was bottled as standard for the first time. Peated whisky has been produced again since 2002.
