The Balvenie 12 Year Old The Sweet Toast of American Oak Single Malt Scotch Whisky 0.7L 43% Balvenie Distillery The Balvenie distillery is also a whisky distillery based in Dufftown, Scotland. It was founded at the end of the 19th century by William J. Grant, who, if you know a little about the world of whisky, is also known as the founder of Glenfiddich and near whom the Balvenie distillery is also located. At first, whisky was produced specifically for the company's own blending. In 1973, single malt was bottled as standard for the first time. Peated whisky has been produced again since 2002. The Balvenie Stories The whisky range, which has been around since 2019 and is also strictly limited, has already included a 14YO 'The Weak of Peat' and a 26YO 'A Day of Dark Barley'. Balvenie 15 Years Madeira Cask Finished Single Malt Whisky 0.7L 43% (Excluding GB) Balvenie Distillery The single malt distillery was founded in 1892 by J. Grant and is still owned by William Grant & Sons Ltd. The distillery can still be found today in Dufftown, Scotland, below the Glenfiddich distillery. When the distillery was founded, used stills from Lagavulin and others were used for cost reasons. This worked well until 1957, but then demand grew and the number of stills was increased from two to four. Today, the distillery has an impressive nine stills. 15 Years Madeira Cask Finished For this bottling, barrels that had previously been used to store sweet Madeira wine were chosen for the maturation process. These now pass on the sweet wine notes that have passed into the wood to the whisky, refining it with sweet fruit notes. These are reminiscent of dark currants and blackberries and are rounded off with notes of fresh orange, roasted nuts and oak.
