Product information "Karukera Rhum Gold, 0,7 L, 40%"

Karukera Rhum Gold 0.7L 40%

As early as November 1493, the Genoese sailor Christopher Columbus discovered the Caribbean island of Guadeloupe, which the natives called Karukera. The island was taken over by Columbus for the Spanish kingdom. The inhabitants, however, successfully resisted the Spanish superiority and it was not until 1635 that Guadeloupe was colonized. This was done by the French, who quickly set up a plantation economy and mainly grew sugar cane and coffee.

The cultivation of sugar cane also laid the foundation for rum production and so the first distillery was founded on the island in 1895. This distillery still exists today and produces the famous Karukera rum.

The rum is not made directly from molasses, but from the fermented juice of the sugar cane. This process is only used for around 3% of global rum production and ensures a noticeable increase in quality.

The Karukera Rhum Gold is an amber-colored rum that impresses on the palate with notes of vanilla, oak and exotic aromas such as mango and peaches. The aftertaste is long and pleasant.

Karukera Rhum Cuvee Christophe Colomb 1493, 0,7 L, 45%
Karukera Rhum Cuvée Christophe Colomb 1493, 0.7 L, 45% Karukera - Rhum from Guadeloupe The Karukera Rhum is produced on the Caribbean island of Guadeloupe. Rums from Guadeloupe are considered to be bottlings for specialists, as often only very small quantities are bottled and the distillates have therefore never penetrated the mass market. One of the most famous distilleries on the island, which is only 1,628 km² in size, is Karukera. Karukera - This is the original name of the city that Christopher Columbus had built in 1493 when he discovered the island and is now known as Sainte-Marie. Very close to the city is the Domaine St. Mary Marquisat, which contains the oldest distillery on the island, which produces the Karukera Rhum Cuvée Christophe Colomb 1493. The basis for the Karukera Rhum is of course sugar cane, which is grown in a 70 hectare plantation around the Domaine St. Mary Marquisat. This is pressed immediately after the harvest and the fresh sugar cane juice is then fermented. This is followed by a maturing period of several years in oak barrels, which ultimately give this special Karukera Rhum its aroma. After the maturing period, the best barrels are selected and then blended. Finally, the wine is hand-bottled into the elegant decanters, which are instantly recognizable and exude enormous value. The taste of the Karukera Rhum Cuvée Christophe Colomb 1493 This special bottling is of course a tribute to the discoverer of the island. What many people do not know is that Christopher Columbus once brought sugar cane to the Caribbean on his travels. The essential raw material for this excellent Karukera Rhum. On the nose, the mahogany-colored Karukera Rhum Cuvée Christophe Colomb 1493 immediately reminds you of fresh sugar cane, honey and vanilla. The taste on the palate is permeated with nutty aromas such as hazelnut, walnut and Brazil nut as well as nuances of dried fruit, melon and banana. In the aftertaste, you notice the maturity and complexity of this cuvée, which lingers for a long time. A rhum for connoisseurs of the extraordinary!
