El Dorado Port Mourant Ruby
The names of a whisky, rum or gin usually always give a small hint about a certain storage method, a certain finish, etc. Here, too, with the new addition to the El Dorado Rum, the addition of 'Port Mourant Ruby' gives you an idea of what finish it is. After the rum had already spent 13 years in ex-bourbon barrels and was able to develop an incredibly great aroma, this limited edition was given an additional finish of 5 years in old French oak barrels, in which Ruby Port wine from the Douro Valley in Porto was previously stored.
Over the entire maturation period, an indescribably fine aroma was able to develop, which can already be clearly recognized on the nose. Here, notes of roasted bananas and coconut pamper the senses. On the palate, a very deep aroma: toffee, various spices and the taste of dark red cherries can be recognized. The aroma continues into a long and very powerful finish, with fine vanilla and honey notes joining the existing notes and memories of cedar wood emerging.

El Dorado Rum 21 Years, 0,7 L, 43%
El Dorado Rum 21 Years 0.7L 43% From sugar producers and colonial rulers El Dorado Rum 21 Years is a golden rum from the Demerara distillers in South American Guyana and is made from the careful marriage of long-matured individual rums, with the youngest of these rums maturing for at least 21 years in oak barrels and some of the rums it contains may well be considerably older. Guyana used to be a major sugar producer and up to 300 distilleries were built around the sugar mills, producing rum on a large scale for the constantly changing colonial rulers and their fleets. Guyana rum or Demerara rum has always been considered particularly strong and aromatic and was often used in blended rums. On English ships, sailors were also given a daily ration of rum. This was a popular custom that only ended on July 31, 1970, the so-called Black Tot Day, when rum was served on board ships for the last time. Demerara Rum Distillers After the decline of the sugar industry due to competition from sugar beet, the number of distilleries in operation also decreased and today only the Demerara Distillers produce rum in Guyana. However, they can draw on a large number of former distilleries from the Enmore Distillery, the Coffey Stills from the Diamond Distillery, the Port Mourant Double Wooden Pot Still and the Versailles Single Wooden Pot Still and are thus able to produce an enormous range of rum styles. El Dorado Rum 21 Years in Taste El Dorado Rum 21 Years is a feast for the palate that is best enjoyed neat. The nose is presented with the scent of fresh vanilla pods and ripe tropical fruits. Very distinctively complex and rich in aromas. In the mouth, El Dorado Rum 21 years is very floral, with fruity aromas, nuances of cocoa and coffee. The aftertaste is extremely complex with a wide range of aromas and El Dorado Rum 21 years is definitely a rum that you will not forget in a hurry. This rum regularly achieves top placings in international spirits competitions. El Dorado Rum 12 Years, 0,7 L, 40%
El Dorado Rum 12 Years 0.7L 40% Guyanese Rum El Dorado Rum 12 Years comes from the South American state of Guyana, which borders Brazil, Suriname and Venezuela as well as the Atlantic. Although Guyana only has a population of around 750,000, the small country can look back on an eventful history in the production of rum. In the heyday of rum production, almost every sugar cane plantation in the country had its own distillery. Of the 200-300 distilleries that once existed, only one remains. But how did the once flourishing industry decline so sharply? To understand this, we need to take a look at the history of the country. The history of rum from Guyana The history of Guyanese rum is closely linked to that of the British Navy. In the 18th century, the three colonies of Demerara, Essequibo and Berbice in Guyana were owned by the Dutch crown. After a slave revolt in 1763, however, their ownership changed hands between the French, Dutch and British. The British were the ones who built the first sugar cane plantations to produce spirits. They needed the liquor for their ship crews. As it was impossible to keep drinking water sterile on long crossings at the time, each sailor was given a ration of 0.5 liters of rum per day to make their water drinkable. The demand was so enormous that more and more plantations and distilleries were built in Guyana, eventually reaching the aforementioned number of 200-300 distilleries. However, due to improved hygiene conditions and microbiological findings, rum on board ships became increasingly pointless and daily rations were steadily reduced. After a long period of being purely traditional, the last rum was finally served on board British ships on July 31, 1970, the so-called Black Tot Day. The ban on rum on board ships also sealed the fate of the distilleries and the last remaining distilleries gradually closed their doors. Only Demerara Distillers remained. However, this distillery is no ordinary one, as many famous stills from the closed distilleries were collected there. These old pot stills and continuous stills are not museum-like, but are still in operation, allowing Demerara Distillers to produce a variety of different rum styles and keep the myth of Guyanese rum alive. El Dorado Rum 12 Years The El Dorado 12 is probably the best-known rum from Demerara Distillers. It was the first rum that company boss Yesu Persaud brought to market. He had the vision early on to create a rum that stood out from the often overwhelmingly heavy style of former Demerara rums. He succeeded in doing this with the El Dorado, which, in addition to the heavy molasses tones, also has fine fruity aromas of orange and pineapple. El Dorado Rum 12 Years is an outstanding rum that is a real treat both neat and in cocktails and long drinks. Absolute recommendation!

El Dorado Rum Enmore Ruby Port Special Cask Finish 2003 Limited Edition 2018 0,7L 62,10%
El Dorado Rum Enmore Ruby Port Special Cask Finish 2003 Limited Edition 2018 0.7L 62.10% Liquid gold The term 'liquid gold' is often used in connection with Demerara rum. This not only convinces rum connoisseurs, but also newcomers to the scene should take a look at this special rum. One of the best known brands in this segment is 'El Dorado' rum. It seems to owe its name to its namesake, the gold country in northern South America, 'El Dorado'. This is probably because rum under this brand name often has a fascinating golden shimmer, is of the highest quality and has won one or two gold medals in competitions over the centuries. Enmore Ruby Port Special Cask Finish 2003/2018 The Enmore Sauternes 2003/2018 also belongs to the Special Cask Finish series. When producing the rum, the special distillation apparatus 'Enmore' was chosen, which is a wooden column still dating back to 1889. This time, after the 10-year 'basic maturation' in ex-bourbon barrels, the decision was made to carry out a 5-year finish in port wine barrels made of French oak. These were previously used to store ruby port wine from the Porto region in Portugal.

El Dorado Rum Port Mourant Sauternes Special Cask Finish 2000 Limited Edition 2018 0.7L 58.6% Special Cask Finish range This special rum range comes from South America and has already enchanted many a collector and rum lover of El Dorado rum. During production and maturation, the Diamont Distillery in Guyana went to great lengths to create a fine drop. You might be wondering why the language of El Dorado was rum and now it's called Diamont Distillery? That's right, the Diamont Distillery is located on the Port Mourant estate, founded in 1732, and produces, among other things, rum in ancient historical stills for El Dorado rum. The rum is then finally bottled by hand in the Demerara Distillery. Port Mourant Sauternes Special Cask Finish 2000/2018 The El Dorado Port Mourant Sauternes from the Special Cask Finish series 2000/2018 stands out in comparison to its relatives in the series for several reasons: The cask strength bottling with an impressive 58.6% vol., the production in a still from the disused Port Morant distillery and the maturation, which initially took place for 13 years in bourbon barrels, then for 5 years in white wine barrels of the Sauternes variety from Bordeaux. The nose initially reveals notes of honey and tropical fruits. These also prevail on the palate, we can detect a hint of peat smoke. Spicy notes from the wooden barrels resonate.
