Cointreau Noir, 0,7L 40%
Cointreau Noir, 0.7L 40% History and production of Cointreau Noir: The history of Cointreau orange liqueur goes back to the 19th century. The two brothers and confectioners Adolphe and Edouard-Jean Cointreau founded their own distillery in Angers, France, in 1849. The latter had a son, also called Edouard, who would later take over the distillery. One day he had the idea of making a liqueur from the peels of sweet and bitter oranges. The recipe for success is mainly due to the harmonious balance of fruity sweetness and tart components. An unbeatable combination that makes Cointreau one of the most used cocktail ingredients ever. Just look at the classics Side Car or Margarita. Cointreau operates its own plantations in Spain and Haiti in order to be able to meet the high quality standards. The Cointreau Noir has been a new product in the portfolio since October 2012. The basis is the world-famous orange liqueur. Added to this is a selection of the best cognacs from Remy Martin. The cognac content is an impressive 30% and ensures an elegant, full-bodied character. The noble mixture is then infused with walnuts and almonds. As alcohol is an excellent flavor carrier, the drinking strength of 40% vol., which is pleasingly high for a liqueur, creates an astonishing interplay of the most diverse impressions. The concept is underlined by the elegantly designed bottle with the typical square shape. Tasting the Cointreau Noir: The seductive orange notes are first apparent in the nosing. Mandarins, Seville oranges and bergamots are clearly distinguishable from one another and are beautifully composed. They are accompanied by wonderful nut aromas and full, heavy cognac scents. The Cointreau Noir is extraordinarily complex and yet wonderfully harmonious and elegant. Various citrus fruits are again dominant on the tongue, supported by a pleasant sweetness. In addition, the interplay with more bitter nuances is wonderfully sophisticated and interesting. The cognac and walnuts come into their own in the Cointreau Noir and add additional notes to the aroma and taste profile known from the classic Cointreau. Overall, the Cointreau Noir is completely convincing thanks to its all-round successful composition and is a real force to be reckoned with on its own. But the Cointreau Noir also cuts an excellent figure in classic cocktails, used as a little twist.
