At that time, King James I granted the landowner and governor of County Antrim in Ireland a license to distill. The Boyd brothers were extremely clever in this regard, as they naturally wanted to be able to bring spirits from all over the world back from their trip. So they would happily swap one or two barrels for one full of rum, strong wine or other specialties. To pay tribute to all these spirits of the world, the Bushmills distillery developed the Steamship Collection in light of the 125th anniversary of the SS Bushmills.
