Product information "Bokma Oude Genever, 1 L, 38%"

Bokma Oude Genever 1.0L 38%

Bokma Oude Genever is distilled from pure grain alcohol and was created around 1900. Bokma Oude Genever is smooth and delicate and is a popular "short drink" especially in the Netherlands, but is also ideal for aromatic long drinks and cocktails.

The basis is malt wine, which is made from a mixture of wheat, rye, corn and barley and gives genever its aromatic note. Malt wine is comparable to the low wines in Scottish whisky production. Another essential ingredient is juniper berries, which are supplemented by other herbs and spices.

Bols Jonge Graanjenever 0.5L 35% Gin or Genever? Actually, Generver is the ancestor of gin in the traditional recipe. But Genever or Jenever is above all a traditional juniper schnapps from the Netherlands or Belgium. Genever is usually made from barley or rye malt. In order to get the actual taste of Genever, juniper is primarily used for flavoring, but also anise, caraway and coriander. Genever was first distilled in the 15th century in the small Dutch town of Schiedam near Rotterdam. It is still the main production site today and that is where the best Genever comes from! Jonge Graanjenever In Genever production, a basic distinction is made between Oude (old) and Jonge (young) Genever. However, whether it is old or young does not refer to the length of storage, but rather to the production process chosen. Oude Genever has a high Moutwijn content of 50% (Moutwijn: flavored distillery product made from a mash that consists of equal parts of yesterday's malt, corn and rye). It is fermented and then distilled in three successive distilling processes. The botanicals that give it flavor must be added before the last distillation process at the latest. It is bottled at a minimum of 38% vol. For the Jonge Graanjenver from Bols, however, a Jonge Genver was chosen, which means the same basic ingredients apply. In contrast to the Oude, however, the Jonge contains much less Moutwijn. Jonge Graanjenever literally means 'young grain genever'. As explained above, it contains only a little Moutwijn, which makes it an aromatic but mild drinking brandy. It has only a slight grain or juniper aroma. The Dutch like to drink their national drink with a beer. But it is also often drunk before and/or after a meal. Genever goes particularly well with fish dishes or a fine selection of cheeses. The Bols brand already has a special bottle design. But the company has come up with something special for the Jonge Graanjenever. The young grain genever is delivered in a special Delft blue ceramic bottle. This type of packaging is a traditional way in the Netherlands to present special specialties.

Bols Genever Amsterdam Barrel Aged Steen 1.0L 42% Bols Genever Amsterdam Barrel Aged Steen It is probably very rare for a Dutch spirits producer not to have Genever in its product range. The Amsterdam-based company Bols thought the same and has now brought a Genever onto the market. It is based on a recipe from the 19th century and is said to have even come from Lucas Bols himself. However, they did not want to simply adopt an old recipe one-to-one, but rather add their own touch or a 'special effect'. So master distiller Piet Van Leijenhorst took on the task and was inspired by American bourbon. The new Bols Genever is made from what is known as Moutwijn. This is a mixture of fermented corn, rye and wheat, which is triple distilled in a copper pot still and then refined with various botanicals. This is followed by the maturation phase in oak barrels for a good 18 months. Over this period, a harmonious and delicate aroma was able to develop, which is characterized by malt flavor. Notes of fresh herbs and a hint of sweet fruit can also be detected in the background.
