The seductive Bielle Rhum has a long tradition on its home island of Maria Galante in the Caribbean Lesser Antilles. As early as the 17th century, the islanders were heavily involved in sugar cane cultivation. There were once around a hundred mills here, all of which were used to press the sugar cane. Today, unfortunately, most of these have disappeared, but the sugar cane juice for the Bielle Agricole rum is still produced according to this old tradition.

Today there are still around 70 of the old mills here, after all! La Destillerie Bielle, founded by the Rod family, has existed here since the end of the 19th century.
