First, it was stored in former bourbon barrels made of American white oak, before being intensively finished in port wine barrels made of European oak. A strong, voluminous start with intense fruitiness, which is characterized by notes of juicy blood oranges, strawberries, blueberries and plums and is accompanied by a light, final peppery note. There are also notes of dark chocolate, port wine and oak. The finish is sweet and full-bodied, the light smokiness known from the aroma gradually comes to the fore and lingers on the tongue for a long time. To make it clear: the Ardmore Portwood 12 years is, without exaggeration, a masterpiece.
