Ardbeg 8 Years The Ultimate Islay Single Malt Whisky is a light straw yellow with an unmistakable smoky intensity. The aromas of charcoal dominate, accompanied by subtle notes of fennel and celery that mix with the wood smoke.
The intense aroma continues with strong nuances of charcoal and toffee followed by a mysterious herbal scent of fennel, celery and green pepper. Milk chocolate, anise and wood smoke complete the palette. With a drop of water, more herbal notes emerge, including fennel, coriander and lavender, accompanied by the characteristic aromatic wood smoke and a fresh, salty sea spray.
The taste presents itself with pronounced peppery notes that lead into a complex symphony of soft toffee, anise, salted caramel chocolate, eucalyptus, menthol and briar wood. A tingling, peppery taste is accompanied by sweet aromas that are overlaid with savory charcoal notes, smoked bacon and burnt toast. The finish offers an impressive conclusion that picks up the complex aromas again and stays in the memory.
