Sherry - Fino, Manzanilla, Oloroso, Pedro Ximénez & Co.

Alongside port wine, sherry is the best-known fortified wine. Fortified wines are fortified wines, i.e. wines that have been strengthened by the addition of brandy. The base wine for sherry is grown in Spain in the triangle of towns around Jerez de la Frontera, Sanlúcar de Barremeda and Puerto de Santa. The most important sherry grapes are Palomino and Pedro Ximenez. After vinification, the wine matures under strong air contact in the anada or solera process. Similar to port wine, there is also a wide variety of sherries, of which Fino, Manzanilla, Palo Cortado, Oloroso, Cream and Pale Cream are the most popular. While the dry sherry varieties are particularly suitable as an aperitif, sweet sherry can be enjoyed with dessert or coffee. Well-known sherry brands include Harveys, Fernando de Castilla, Osborne, Lustau, Tio Pepe and Sandeman.
