Tobermory Single Malt Whisky 21 Years Manzanilla Sherry Cask 0.7L 53.8%
The Tobermory distillery is the only one on the island of Mull, whose capital is also the namesake for the single malt whisky. The distillery has existed since the late 1790s, in the meantime whisky was also produced here under the name 'Ledaig' and, like almost all distilleries, was out of operation for a few years now and again. In 1990 it made its comeback.
Special series
To celebrate this properly, the distillery has decided on a special bottling series. This could be particularly interesting for collectors because the Tobermory distillery has come up with something very special:
Each of the six bottles to be released in this special series will contain a colored perforation strip that is individually numbered. If you collect a strip from each bottle and send it to the distillery, you will be entered into a prize draw to win a 42-year-old Tobermory.
Tobermory 21 years
Before the cask strength bottling in 2017, two maturation phases took place after distillation. The first of these was in ex-bourbon barrels. The subsequent maturation then took place in Manzanilla sherry barrels. Manzanilla is a special form of sherry, which is made from partially unripe grapes and is known for its dry and tangy aroma.
The Tobermory 21 years offers a dry, slightly oily mouthfeel. Notes of lemon and dried fruit give it a certain lightness. In the background, aromas such as coffee and dark chocolate can be recognized, oak wood and vanilla and orange aromas can also be recognized.
