Glenrothes

The Glenrothes Whisky distillery is a typical Speyside distillery, as it is located in the whisky town of Rothes, which is between Elgin and Craigellachie. If you translate Glenrothes, you will find that the name alludes to this area. Its name means valley of the Rothes.
It was once founded by William Grant & Co, who should not be confused with the founder of Glenfiddich!
With years of experience since 1879, the company has brought many a whisky onto the market and established itself with it. However, mainly with malt whisky for various blends. A single malt under the company's own label has only been available for a good 30 years.

Silver Cask Series

The 1999 Single Cask #8193 19 years was released in the Silver Cask Series.
After distillation in 1999, the whisky was filled into bourbon seasoned American oak remade hogshead barrels for final maturation. The whisky was not bottled at cask strength until 2019. Only 240 bottles of this special bottling, from cask no. #8193, are available, making this single cask a rarity.
Tasting Notes
On the nose, the 19-year-old whisky is very voluminous, with finely tuned notes of oak and vanilla. A subtle chocolate aroma is also noticeable. The distillery's experience is evident on the palate. A super soft and complex whisky that is not overwhelming. Vanilla and chocolate are also present here, along with the expressive aromas of citrus fruits and green tea.
The finish is definitely the crowning glory here. Very long and other great aromas are added. A very fruity aftertaste in which, in addition to the citrus notes, there is also the presence of white peach and is rounded off by fine vanilla notes.

A very fine drop for connoisseurs and collectors alike.

The Glenrothes Bourbon Cask Reserve 0,7L 40%
The Glenrothes Bourbon Cask Reserve 0.7L 40% Speyside Distillery Glenrothes, a Scottish malt distillery, is located in the 'Valley of the Rothes' (which is also what the company name means) between Craigella and Elgin in Speyside. It was founded in 1879. At that time, the distillery was founded by William Grant & Co., who is not to be confused with the founder of Glenfiddich. In the years after its founding, there were a few turbulent years for the whisky distillery. It was often hit by one fire or another and once burned down completely. However, these setbacks did not hold the company back and the distillery was continually rebuilt. It was worth it: The distillery's generally light whisky with its fine bouquet of berries, other fruits and carefully selected spices is among the best in all of Scotland. Here, whisky is divided into categories by master blenders. In this classification, the malt from Glenrothes is now among the top six and is therefore doing really well in the whisky business. Bourbon Cask Reserve This new release 'Bourbon Cask' is also known to experts as 'Alba Reserve'. However, in order to better emphasize the name of the type of cask used, it was renamed 'Bourbon Cask' and so it fits better into the cask series, which includes a sherry and a peated cask. Tasting Notes The aroma is floral and fresh with hints of vanilla and a few exotic notes. It is stored in ex-bourbon barrels made of American white oak, which primarily shape the taste profile. On the palate, as is well known, a very soft and light whisky, with a strong emphasis on vanilla. The aromas are accompanied by other fruit components of red berries. The finish is medium-long, but as expected, very soft and creamy with sweet notes

The Glenrothes 12 Yo Speyside Single Malt Whisky 0,7L 40%
The Glenrothes 12 year old Speyside Single Malt Whisky 0.7L 40% New paths As in many well-known distilleries, one or the other product at The Glenrothes is also replaced by a new design, a different name or a similar product. This 12-year-old Speyside Single Malt and its similar representative, the 10-year-old, are new products that are intended to replace the Reserve and Vintage bottlings we know and belong to the so-called The Soleo Collection. Soleo should not be confused with the Solera process! It simply refers to whiskies stored in sherry casks. In terms of character, connoisseurs in particular appreciate it for its harmonious image, but beginners in the world of whisky are also on the safe side with the 10- or 12-year-old. When storing, it is usual to first complete a longer maturation phase in first fill or ex-bourbon barrels and then finish it in sherry or other types of barrels. With this Soleo Collection, the distillery has turned the tables and first matured in sherry barrels. The 12-year-old Glenrothes owes its golden color with flashing amber tones exclusively to its storage in sherry barrels; no coloring was used here. Its unusual aroma is characterized by fruity notes such as bananas and a hint of vanilla. These can also be recognized on the palate. It is a fruity and rich single malt. You can also recognize a taste of melon, citrus and a spice of cinnamon. The whisky does not hide the fact that it was stored in a sherry barrel, so notes of dried fruit are also added.

The Glenrothes Single Malt Whisky 1988/2016 0,7L 44,1%
The Glenrothes Single Malt Whisky 1988/2016 0.7L 44.1% This exclusive Speyside Vintage The Glenrothes Single Malt Whisky, produced by the renowned Glenrothes Distillery, was originally distilled in 1988. After a maturation period of around 28 years, it was bottled in 2016 as a "Second Edition" with an alcohol content of 44.1%. Interestingly, this vintage single malt whisky spent its long maturation phase in a combination of "First Fill Sherry Hogsheads" made of American white oak and "Refill Sherry Butt" made of European oak. This gives the smooth The Glenrothes Single Malt Whisky 1988/2016 0.7L 44.1% a wonderfully fruity, sweet and herbal taste profile. On the nose it is round and aromatic, with notes of roasted coffee beans, blackcurrants, a hint of vanilla and chocolate cake. On the palate it is lighter than expected, with sweet hints of honey, plenty of vanilla pods and candied lemon peel. A hint of rich sherry cask aromas rounds off the taste experience. Its finish is long-lasting, accompanied by subtle cinnamon and pepper notes. A fine, complex and full-bodied single malt whisky that perfectly reflects the characteristic features of the Glenrothes distillery.
