Balvenie Single Malt Vintage Cask 1970 0.7L 44.6% Balvenie – since 1892 The Balvenie distillery is also a Scottish malt distillery. Along with many other distilleries, it is located in the tranquil village of Dufftown in Speyside. One of the most famous neighboring distilleries is the Glenfiddich Distillery. To this day, the distillery belongs to the independent company William Grant & Son. The name refers to the nearby Balvenie Castle, which plays another important role for the distillery. The founder of William Grant & Son and his sons built the distillery almost with their own hands from building materials that came from a manor house of the eponymous New Balvenie Castle. Vintage Cask Series In this series, the Balvenie distillery presents four real rarities from their range. The series includes bottlings from 1970, 1971, 1972 and 1973, all of which have matured for at least 30 years. Each bottling is very limited, so there are only 1,025 bottles in the entire series. 1970s bottling For this single malt vintage cask bottling, cask no. 12524 was specially selected from the limited stock of old reserve whiskies by master blender David Stewart himself.
