At that time, Raymond and Paul Lillet founded the company "Maison Lillet" in Les Graves near Sauternes and began trading in fine liqueurs, spirits and wines. Lillet, then known as Kina Lillet, was finally created in 1887 on the advice of Father Kermann. He worked under Louis XVI as a doctor in Brazil where he recognized the strengthening effect of cinchona bark.
