Plantation Peru

After the fantastic Plantation Barbados was released in 2011, there is only one new product in the One time limited edition series. It is a rum from Peru. Here, too, a collaboration was entered into with local master blenders, more precisely Jorge Luis Rodriquez Parajes, the master blender of the Cartavio Rum Company from Peru.
A blend of two different types of distillery was chosen. One part of the rum was produced in a 'John Dore' pot still, another part was produced in a column still before the two were married together. Most of the time, i.e. the 'main maturation' took place in Peru in ex-bourbon barrels. However, since a special edition is usually also subjected to a finish, this was also done with the Plantation Peru. For this, the rum was brought back to Maison Ferrand in Freikreich. The rum was allowed to mature there for another three years in ex-Ferrand cognac barrels.
The first notes on the nose are of dark chocolate, vanilla and subtle wood aromas. On the palate it is very soft and gentle, aromas such as chocolate and vanilla can be recognized here along with hints of passion fruit. In the finish, further fruity notes and the aroma of roasted nuts and cinnamon are added.

Plantation Rum Barbados Grande Reserve 5 Years, 0,7 L, 40%
Plantation Rum Barbados Grande Reserve 5 years, 0.7 L, 40% Grande Champagne Cognac The story of Plantation Rum begins in France. More precisely in the Grande Champagne in Cognac. There, the Cognac-Haus Ferrand has been producing high-quality cognac according to old traditions and from the best base wines since 1776. After the entrepreneur and spirits connoisseur Alexandre Gabriel joined the company in 1989, the business was fundamentally revitalized. The partly antiquated distilleries were renewed and are now among the most modern in the entire region. However, it was always important to M Gabriel to maintain the old and very traditional distillation methods. From Cognac to Rum But what does rum have to do with Cognac? Very simple: M Gabriel has been selling used Cognac barrels to the Caribbean for years. There, the barrels are used to mature the rum and thus give it a special aroma. Over the years, these business relationships have also led to good private contacts in the Caribbean. Due to his friendships with the master distillers of the Caribbean, Alexandre Gabriel was able to try very rare distillates, some of which were only distilled for the cellar masters' private use. However, M Gabriel would not be a businessman if he had not managed to buy some of these special barrels and have them delivered to Cognac. They are now stored in the modern cellars of Cognac Ferrand and are bottled when the house's master blender deems it appropriate. A treasure of the Caribbean All rums bottled under the "Plantation" label are pearls of the Caribbean. Unique in taste and a wonderful introduction to the great potential and traditions of Caribbean rum. This five-year-old Grande Reserve rum comes, as the name suggests, from Barbados. It is a cuvée of the best Barbados rums that matured for five years in the best bourbon barrels in the Caribbean. They were then further matured in oak cognac barrels in France. On the nose and palate, the rum presents itself with opulent and delicate notes of banana, coconut, toffee and vanilla. The aftertaste is soft and full-bodied. The rum remains in the mouth with a beautiful sweetness. Perfect for exclusive cocktails or for pure enjoyment. Recommended!

Plantation Rum Barbados Grande Reserve, 0,7 L, 40%
Plantation Rum Barbados Grande Reserve, 0.7 L, 40% The history of Plantation Rum The history of Plantation Rum is closely linked to the French cognac producer Pierre Ferrand. The Ferrand cognac house has been producing high-quality, traditionally produced cognac since 1776 and has also built up a good reputation across the region. Pierre Ferrand has been particularly popular in the cocktail scene in recent years, as the company has given the industry new impetus with products such as the Pierre Ferrand Triple Sec Dry Curacao. This is largely due to the work of one man - Alexandre Gabriel. The French entrepreneur and spirits connoisseur joined the Pierre Ferrand company in 1989 and fundamentally revitalized the business. Gabriel not only ensured that the partly antiquated distilleries were replaced with very modern, but traditionally operated systems, but also sensibly expanded the company's portfolio. As is common in the Cognac region, Alexandre Gabriel also sold the used Cognac barrels so that manufacturers of other spirits could mature their spirits in them. Many of these barrels went to rum producers in the Caribbean and, due to the years of business relationships, close friendships developed that enabled Alexandre Gabriel to import some very rare barrels of rum to France. This was the birth of Plantation Rum! The rums bottled under the name Plantation Rum mature in the cellars of Pierre Ferrand Cognac and are blended and bottled depending on their country of origin. For all Plantation Rums, Pierre Ferrand's cellar masters ensure that they are bottled at the right time. That is, when the cellar master considers the respective Plantation Rum to be mature. The production of the Plantation Rum Barbados Grande Reserve As the name suggests, the Plantation Rum Barbados Grande Reserve is produced in Barbados in small copper pot stills. There it first matures for some time in former bourbon barrels before being shipped to France. Once in France, the Plantation Rum Barbados Grande Reserve is transferred to cognac barrels and matures there for a longer period. The taste of the Plantation Rum Barbados Grande Reserve On the nose, the Plantation Rum Barbados Grande Reserve has lots of fruity tones and a little vanilla. On the palate, these aromas of the Plantation Rum Barbados Grande Reserve are complemented by honey, caramel and oak notes. The overall quite soft Plantation Rum Barbados Grande Reserve has a slight alcoholic bite in the aftertaste, which gives it additional character. All in all, the Plantation Rum Barbados Grande Reserve is a very balanced rum that is suitable for drinking neat as well as for use in cocktails and long drinks.

Plantation Xaymaca Special Dry Jamaica Rum 0,7L 43%
Plantation Xaymaca Special Dry Jamaica Rum 0.7L 43% Maison Ferrand France Maison Ferrand is now one of the world's leading manufacturers of the finest volumes. The company was founded in 1989 by Alexandre Gabriel. He wanted to keep forgotten and old artisanal methods alive, but at the same time promote new innovations. The first fine brandy was Ferrand Cognac, 100% regional and with a long history. This was followed by Citadelle Gin and in 1999 Plantation Rums. The latter was intended to represent his passion for old techniques of rum production. He introduced the double maturation process, which is still used in every Plantation Rum today and which distinguishes this rum. This means that first the normal maturation takes place in ex-bourbon barrels. After this maturation phase, the barrels are taken to Château de Bonbonnet in France, where they are transferred to smaller barrels made from French oak by Ferrand and undergo a second maturation phase. In 2017, the West Indies Rum Distillery was bought by the French company. The company also has a one-third share in the Long Pond Distillery and the Clarendon Distillery. Plantation Rum remains at the top when it comes to excellent rum, as Planation Rum was one of the first and most famous bottlers, which is evidence of a great deal of knowledge and craftsmanship. Latest bottling The Plantation Xaymaca Special Dry Jamaica Rum has been on the market since 2018. It is a blended rum made from rum varieties from the Long Pond Distillery and the Clarendon Distillery. It was then further refined by extended maturation in selected cognac barrels. In terms of taste, it keeps its promise. Plantation Xaymaca Special Dry Rum is a dry rum, which means that no additional sugar has been added. It impresses with its fruity, spicy aromas. As the tasting progresses, other great aromas such as vanilla, ripe bananas and roasted pineapple emerge. There is also a hint of bitter orange. As the tasting progresses, other subtle aromas emerge. These include coconut, allspice, nuts and fruity notes of pears. In conclusion, it can be said that the Xaymaca rum is a very complex bottling, but never seems overloaded. It is a great rum that is very suitable for beginners, especially in terms of value for money.

Plantation Rum Australia 2007 One Time Limited Edition 0,7L 49,3%
Plantation Rum Australia 2007 One Time Limited Edition 0.7L 49.3% Rum from Down Under We're used to a lot with Plantation Rum and it feels like they've presented rum from all over the world, but there's one place they haven't yet covered, and so Maison Ferrand is presenting the result of their collaboration with the Beenleigh Artisan Disitllery from Australia. The foundation for this excellent rum, which is made from sugar cane molasses with two different yeasts, was laid back in 2007. This was followed by 13 years of maturation in the country of distillation before Master Blender Alexandre Gabriel selected 21 barrels for further maturation. These were then finished for another year in ex-Ferrand cognac barrels under French conditions. Taste The taste is characterised by wonderful notes of stone fruit such as apricots and peaches, which are underlined by vanilla and coconut. Fresh citrus notes and a hint of cocoa are also added. The tropical fruity notes also linger for a long time in the aftertaste.
