Grande Champagne Cognac

The story of Plantation Rum begins in France. More precisely in the Grande Champagne in Cognac. There, the Cognac-Haus Ferrand has been producing high-quality cognac according to old traditions and from the best base wines since 1776. After the entrepreneur and spirits connoisseur Alexandre Gabriel joined the company in 1989, the business was fundamentally revitalized. The partly antiquated distilleries were renewed and are now among the most modern in the entire region. However, it was always important to M Gabriel to maintain the old and very traditional distillation methods.

From Cognac to Rum

But what does rum have to do with Cognac? Very simple: M Gabriel has been selling used Cognac barrels to the Caribbean for years. There, the barrels are used to mature the rum and thus give it a special aroma. Over the years, these business relationships have also led to good private contacts in the Caribbean.

Due to his friendships with the master distillers of the Caribbean, Alexandre Gabriel was able to try very rare distillates, some of which were only distilled for the cellar masters' private use. However, M Gabriel would not be a businessman if he had not managed to buy some of these special barrels and have them delivered to Cognac. They are now stored in the modern cellars of Cognac Ferrand and are bottled when the house's master blender deems it appropriate.

A treasure of the Caribbean

All rums bottled under the "Plantation" label are pearls of the Caribbean. Unique in taste and a wonderful introduction to the great potential and traditions of Caribbean rum. This five-year-old Grande Reserve rum comes, as the name suggests, from Barbados. It is a cuvée of the best Barbados rums that matured for five years in the best bourbon barrels in the Caribbean. They were then further matured in oak cognac barrels in France.

On the nose and palate, the rum presents itself with opulent and delicate notes of banana, coconut, toffee and vanilla. The aftertaste is soft and full-bodied. The rum remains in the mouth with a beautiful sweetness. Perfect for exclusive cocktails or for pure enjoyment. Recommended!

Plantation Guatemala & Belize Gran Anejo 0,7L 42 %
Plantation Guatemala & Belize Gran Anejo 0.7L 42% A marriage of two countries The “Plantation Guatemala & Belize Gran Anejo" brings together two extraordinary distillates from Belize and Guatemala in a limited edition. The northernmost part of the country, Petén, the origin of the fine drink, is characterized by a mild climate with average temperatures between 18 and 28 degrees Celsius. The Yucatán peninsula ensures climatic stability in the highland region. The highlands are the most populous region in Guatemala and at the same time the cultural center of the country. Rum production plays a major role in the history of Belize, as pirates already valued the noble spirit. Both countries share a passion for creating something extraordinary. The child of marriage The delicious blend was obtained from carefully selected molasses in the continuous column still process. After the distillation process, the rum was stored for 3 years in oak barrels on the Central American continent. Since the Caribbean has higher temperatures and humidity, the rum matures much faster there. It was then shipped to France, where it was refined in former cognac barrels. This gave the "Plantation Guatemala & Belize Gran Anejo" a particularly intense note. The company's own steps The "Plantation Guatemala & Belize Gran Anejo" impresses with its bright, warm amber color in the glass, and you can immediately feel the sweet aromas of vanilla with a hint of fine cocoa. After a while, a rather heavy wood note develops, which is, however, surrounded by the vanilla. When you taste it, the Plantation Rum is amazingly soft and round. With a sophisticated combination of licorice and nuts, a slightly bitter undertone is created. In the finish, the aromas that you already noticed while pouring appear again and offer a harmonious overall picture. The limited edition shows both its tropical and European side. Since it is a complex rum, it is best drunk neat or on ice to experience its full power and variety.

Plantation Pineapple Stiggins Fancy 0,7L 40%
Plantation Pineapple Stiggins Fancy 0.7L 40% Plantation Rum – Philosophy It all began with Alexander Gabriel's most significant discovery: He became aware of Maison Ferrand, one of the oldest spirits brands in the Cognac region. The reputation of the cognac house is undisputed, but at that time the desired sales were not forthcoming. You could say it was love at first sight, which meant that Gabriel immediately joined the company. During his travels, always on a professional basis, Alexander Gabriel built up an impressive network of partners, all of whom were just as passionate as he was. In the 1990s, on one of his many trips to the Caribbean, he was looking for the best rum in the region. He struck gold and discovered a range of the finest rums, and the Plantations range was born. It is a fine selection of rums from the tropical terroirs. As Alexander Gabriel, as president and owner of Maison Ferrand, also stands for good cognac, he has also tried to make something of it. He sells his used barrels to other spirits manufacturers, but primarily to rum producers, especially in the Caribbean and Latin America. Over time, impressive rum expressions have emerged. Several times a year, the owner now takes the time to personally search the Caribbean for the best rums in order to present them to the world. One of them is: Plantation Pineapple Stiggins Fancy This rum has a really beautiful background. It is supposed to be a homage to the character from the Pickwick Papers, Reverend Stiggins, who was created by Charles Dicken. He loved drinking 'pineapple rum'. For this exceptional rum, the peels of the Victoria pineapple are placed in Plantation 3 Stars Rum and then distilled further. The pulp is placed separately in Plantation Original Dark Rum. In the finish, both the distillate and the fruit infusion are mixed to create a rich and fruity pineapple bouquet. The fresh fruit aroma is also emphasized by notes of smoke and cloves.

Plantation Rum Peru 2006 One Time Limited Edition 0,7L 47,9%
Plantation Rum Peru 2006 One Time Limited Edition 0.7L 47.9% Plantation Peru After the fantastic Plantation Barbados was released in 2011, there is only one new product in the One time limited edition series. It is a rum from Peru. Here, too, a collaboration was entered into with local master blenders, more precisely Jorge Luis Rodriquez Parajes, the master blender of the Cartavio Rum Company from Peru. A blend of two different types of distillery was chosen. One part of the rum was produced in a 'John Dore' pot still, another part was produced in a column still before the two were married together. Most of the time, i.e. the 'main maturation' took place in Peru in ex-bourbon barrels. However, since a special edition is usually also subjected to a finish, this was also done with the Plantation Peru. For this, the rum was brought back to Maison Ferrand in Freikreich. The rum was allowed to mature there for another three years in ex-Ferrand cognac barrels. The first notes on the nose are of dark chocolate, vanilla and subtle wood aromas. On the palate it is very soft and gentle, aromas such as chocolate and vanilla can be recognized here along with hints of passion fruit. In the finish, further fruity notes and the aroma of roasted nuts and cinnamon are added.
