Austrian Empire Navy Rum Reserva 1863, 0.7L 40% History and production of Austrian Empire Navy Rum Reserva 1863 Barbados is considered the cradle of rum. The tropical climate and fertile soil make the Caribbean island ideal for growing sugar cane. The actual sugar production also produces molasses, a thick, brown mass that still contains a lot of sugar and is the basic ingredient for rum distillation. English merchants discovered early on that, in addition to sugar cane cultivation, rum production in Barbados is a real gold mine and so many smaller distilleries were built on the island. The distillation of molasses rum is still firmly anchored in Barbados and fills Barbadians with great pride. The rums are mainly distilled in small pot stills and have a strong taste, with notes of molasses and caramel predominating. The name Austrian Empire Navy Rum Reserva 1863 0.7L 40% goes back to the Albert Michler liqueur, rum and spirit factory, which was founded in 1863 in Buchsdorf, Austria-Silesia. In addition to the world-famous Buchsdorfer Magenbitter, numerous overseas rums were also imported and sold. However, with the end of the Second World War, the spirits factory had to be closed. Today, Albert Michler Distillery Int. Ltd is based in Bristol in the south of England. The Austrian Empire Navy Rum Reserva 1863 impressively revives Albert Michler's legacy and history. The Austrian Empire Navy Rum Reserva 1863 is an assemblage of the finest Barbados rums that were allowed to mature in barrels made of American and French oak. It is a typical representative of Barbados rums and deserves to be tasted. Taste of the Austrian Empire Navy Rum Reserva 1863 The Austrian Empire Navy Rum Reserva 1863 presents itself as is typical for a Barbados rum. Espero Extra Anejo XO 0.7L 40% Espero Extra Anejo The blend is a combination of 12 to 18 year old molasses rum from the Dominican Republic with 6 to 12 year old solera rum. The latter comes from various Caribbean islands such as Jamaica, Barbados or Trinidad. After the marriage of these already fantastic rums, the rum is stored for an impressive 18 years during which time it develops into an aromatic, slightly smoky rum with tropical fruit notes. The name alone indicates that this product is very exclusive. The term 'Espero' comes from Spanish and means something like 'hope'; the hope for a particularly fine drop is fully fulfilled here in any case. The abbreviation XO, which is already known from other spirits such as cognac, also stands for the particularly long maturation, i.e. 'Extra Old'. Variety of flavors As soon as you open the bottle you are convinced that you are holding a special curd in your hands. Delicate, but also smoky with recognizable fruit notes and spices. The entire flavor profile then becomes clear on the palate. It is creamy and soft on the palate. Honey aromas and the Caribbean influence of tropical fruits are recognizable first. This is followed by notes reminiscent of leather, which, accompanied by citrus and coconut notes, create a great picture. The long-lasting finish has slightly peppery spice notes that leave a warming feeling.

Cane Island Jamaica Superior Reserve Aged Rum 0.7L 40% Cane Island has set itself the goal of presenting the diversity of rum in all its facets, listing the different variations and paying homage to all of the diversity. Already in its name, Cane Island devotes itself to rum by referring to the "sugar cane island" to unmistakably indicate what it is about - rum. Sugar cane, as the basic product for production, is widely known in general alcoholic basic knowledge. The harvest of this basic raw material takes place in the first months of the year, often from February. The grass, which visually resembles a mixture of bamboo and reed, must first mature for 10 to 12 months to a length of about 4 meters. It is then cut off just above the ground with a machete or cutting machine. However, only the stems are needed for further production. Therefore, all the leaves are often cut off directly in the field and only the canes themselves are transported further. Immediately after the harvest, the sugar cane juice is extracted by finely cutting and pressing the canes. This juice is either used directly for production to produce the AOC-protected Rhum Agricole, or further intermediate steps and strong reduction of the juice are used to obtain the molasses that is used for the majority of the world's rum production. The Cane Island Jamaica Superior Reserve Aged Rum 0.7L 40% comes from this molasses and is a sophisticated blend of the distillates from four distilleries, all based in Jamaica. This copper-brown Caribbean rum is based on the pot still distillation process. The Cane Island Jamaica Blend Rum impresses with its particularly deep and complex character. It is characterized by a typically Jamaican balance between fruity notes and the bourbon wood accents that arise from storage.
