History and production of Corsair Old Punk Pumpkin and Spice Whiskey:

In the north of the US state of Tennessee, more precisely in the city of Nashville, the two hobby brewers Darek Bell and Andrew Webber fulfilled a long-held dream in 2010 by opening the Corsair Distillery. Originally, the two young entrepreneurs brewed various craft beers in Darek's garage in their free time, but their passion for whiskey ultimately led to joint plans to set up their own distillery.

In addition to the standard bottlings available all year round, such as gin, rye whiskey or spiced rum, the Corsair Distillery also creates numerous experimental special editions that impress with innovative ingredients and exceptional taste. The Corsair Old Punk Pumpkin and Spice Whiskey is an absolute rarity.

This flavoured whiskey was created based on the extremely popular pumpkin ale in the USA, a beer variation for which pumpkin flesh is at the top of the ingredients list and which is drunk in large quantities on Halloween and Thanksgiving. A raw spirit made from barley malt and wheat was distilled again and the rising vapors were passed through various botanicals. In addition to pumpkin, cloves, ginger and allspice, fresh cinnamon sticks also provide a lush bouquet. Subsequent storage in former rye whiskey barrels made of American white oak rounds off the complex aromatic composition with spicy oak and rye notes.

Taste of the Corsair Old Punk Pumpkin and Spice Whiskey:

On the nose, the Corsair Old Punk Pumpkin and Spice Whiskey shows lush aromas of baked pumpkin, mild ginger, cinnamon, cloves and dark chocolate. In the background there are sweet malt, vanilla, a hint of blossom honey and spicy rye bread. The aromas are extremely complex and varied, but without lacking in harmony. On the contrary, the interplay of the most diverse aromas is well integrated and well balanced.

On the tongue, the Corsair Old Punk Pumpkin and Spice Whiskey is very mild and soft. With sweet notes of vanilla, marshmallows, honey and caramel, its basic taste is more reminiscent of a gentle bourbon whiskey. The emerging notes of pumpkin pie, butter crumbles, cloves, allspice and cinnamon add a variety of other flavor nuances to the Corsair Old Punk Pumpkin and Spice Whiskey.

A light oak and rye spice in the background rounds off the harmonious flavor profile and also ensures a long-lasting finish.

Overall, the Corsair Old Punk Pumpkin and Spice Whiskey is an exciting product that is probably unique on the market in this form. Despite its unusual flavor composition, it is still first and foremost a well-made, honest whiskey, complemented by traditional American flavors.

Corsair Triple Smoke Whiskey, 0,7 L, 40%
Corsair Triple Smoke Whiskey, 0.7 L, 40% The history of the Corsair Distillery It is not uncommon for good friends to open a business together. However, these businesses are less likely to be successful, as shared interests alone are usually not enough to run the business successfully. This is different for the Americans Darek Bell and Andrew Webber. Bell and Webber have known each other since kindergarten and now successfully run the Corsair Distillery together. The two experimented early on in the garage of Darek Bell and his wife Amy Lee with producing their own wine and beer. The products were very well received by friends and acquaintances, and so the two decided to produce alcoholic beverages professionally from then on. However, since they wanted something "spiritor", they decided to open a distillery! In the following years they visited numerous distilleries together to learn everything they needed to know about distillery technology through dialogue with the respective master distillers. After they had finally saved enough money for their own hand-hammered copper pot still, Bell and Webber began producing their own gin and whiskey. The Corsair Triple Smoke Whiskey The Corsair Distillery's portfolio is long and, in addition to some standard products, also includes experimental spirits and bottlings that are often only available for a short time. These special bottlings include, for example, a pumpkin brandy or whiskey that has been hopped. Another innovative distillate from the Corsair Distillery is the Corsair Triple Smoke Whiskey. The idea behind this whiskey is as simple as it is ingenious. As with a good Scottish whisky, the basis is malted barley. This is divided into three fractions before processing, each of which is smoked in a different way. While two fractions are gently smoked over milder cherry or birch wood, the third and final part of the malt is smoked with strong peat smoke. After distillation, the still young but already very aromatic whiskey is filled into new, charred barrels for storage. Here it gains another dimension of taste through the notes of the heavily toasted wood. The Corsair Triple Smoke Whiskey is a very complex whiskey that does not overwhelm the palate with its strong smoky notes, but rather encourages you to take another sip. The Corsair Triple Smoke is a very successful whiskey that deserves attention!

Corsair Ryemageddon Whiskey, 0,7 L, 46%
Corsair Ryemageddon Whiskey, 0.7 L, 46% The story of Corsair The story of Corsair Ryemageddon Whiskey begins with the story of two friends. Darek Bell and Andrew Webber have been close friends since kindergarten. Shortly after they came of age, they began making their own beer and wine in Darek and his girlfriend Amy Lee's garage. When they worked together on a biodiesel plant a few years later, they realized that their passion actually lies in spirits and that they would enjoy making American whiskey far more than producing biodiesel. Andrew Webber and Darek Bell therefore began to educate themselves about distillery systems and whiskey production. They scraped together their savings and founded the Corsair Distillery. Their first distillates, which they presented to the public shortly afterwards, caused a sensation right from the start and won numerous awards in renowned magazines such as Food and Wine, Imbibe, Whisky Advocate, and Maxim.com. The Corsair Ryemageddon Whiskey The Corsair Ryemageddon Whiskey is the aged version of the very popular "White Dog" Wry Moon. In addition to regular rye malt, the Ryemageddon Whiskey is based on chocolate rye malt. In this case, "chocolate" stands for a more heavily roasted malt, which gives the whiskey intense roasted aromas. The mashing process takes place in an antique whiskey wash still and the subsequent distillation in a handmade copper pot still. This produces a whiskey with a lot of character, which is then filled into oak barrels for storage. The slightly copper-colored Corsair Ryemageddon Whiskey is very peppery and spicy on the nose and palate, and then reveals a fine sweetness in the aftertaste. A strong and crisp whiskey that perfectly reflects the style of American rye whiskeys. It can be enjoyed neat, but also cuts a fine figure in cocktails and long drinks. On the rocks, it is the ideal whiskey for warm summer days or after a hard day at work.
