Burmester Port Wines
The port wines of the Burmester brand are produced in the Douro Valley in Portugal with a lot of love and dedication. The grape varieties most commonly used to produce port wine are Touriga Nacional or Tinta Roriz, although very special, old grape varieties are also used for special bottlings.
LBV (Late Bottled Vintage) 2013
In contrast to a classic 'vintage' bottling, which is usually only stored in barrels for a good 2 years and then matured in bottles, the maturation of the Late Bottled Vintage is handled somewhat differently. This port matures for 4-6 years in barrels before being bottled. This has the advantage that the port wine can be tasted directly in the year it is bottled and no further maturation in the barrels is required.
