The history of Balvenie

Even if Balvenie is not yet as well known as the Glenfiddich distillery, Balvenie whisky is gaining more and more fans in Germany. We did not choose the comparison with Glenfiddich entirely unintentionally, as the two distilleries Balvenie and Glenfiddich are in close proximity. Only a small abandoned railway line separates the two distillery buildings. The Balvenie Distillery was founded by the founders of William Grant & Sons, who also own Glenfiddich, and built in 1892 from the remains of the New Balvenie Castle. As there was not enough money at the time for their own stills, used stills from the Lagavulin and Glen Albyn distilleries were purchased. The Balvenie distillery now has eight stills that have a type of swan neck and are therefore very different from other stills. This type of still is also known as a Balvenie bubble. Although the Balvenie stills are larger than those of Glenfiddich, they are heated using the latter's waste heat. Over the decades, Balvenie has earned an excellent reputation among Scottish malt whisky distilleries and, with an annual output of 5,600,000 litres, is one of the most successful of its kind.

The production of the Balvenie Triple Cask Malt Whisky 12 Years

The Balvenie Triple Cask Malt Whisky 12 Years is a special whisky through and through. The malt for the Balvenie Triple Cask Malt Whisky 12 Years was partly produced in the distillery's own floor maltings and then mashed with water from the famous Robbie Dubh spring. This is followed by a gentle double distillation in the aforementioned swan neck stills. However, the Balvenie Triple Cask Malt Whisky 12 years only gains its special character after distillation. This is because it is then filled into different types of casks to mature. As the name of the whisky suggests, these are three different types of casks. The master distillers at Glenfiddich have opted for the three most traditional types of casks: sherry, first-fill bourbon whiskey and refill bourbon whiskey. After the whisky has been stored in the individual casks for over 12 years, it is blended in a large wooden "marrying tun". After this careful mixing, the Balvenie Triple Cask Malt Whisky 12 years is bottled in a 1 liter! Bottled.

The taste of the Balvenie Triple Cask Malt Whisky 12 years

On the nose, the Balvenie Triple Cask Malt Whisky 12 years shows a true potpourri of aromas. An elegant sweetness and a certain spiciness underline the fruity, fresh and intense aromas on the nose. On the palate, the Balvenie Triple Cask Malt Whisky 12 years shows the same intensity with the tastes of dried fruit, vanilla and cinnamon in the foreground. The aftertaste of the Balvenie Triple Cask Malt Whisky 12 years is incredibly long and complex. A whisky to melt away!

I like

The Balvenie Single Malt Whisky 25 Years The Rare Marriages 0.7L 48% The Rare Marriages Premium Single Malt Series In addition to the 25-year-old, there are two older products in this series, namely a 30-year-old and a wonderful 40-year-old that will convince every whisky lover. True to the motto 'Simplicity is the most beautiful level of perfection', The Balvenie has dedicated an entire whisky series to Malt Master David Stewart. He is known for his devotion to various whiskies and his unique aromas. For the 25-year-old representative in this series, he combined the contents of individual barrels made of both American and European oak. Tasting Notes The aroma has fine aromas of autumn fruits paired with sweet notes of honey. Light spices of ginger and intense oak notes suggest a complex whisky. On the palate, other well-balanced aromas such as vanilla, roasted marshmallow and other fruit notes join in, giving the whisky a pleasant, long-lasting sweetness right up to the finish.

The Balvenie 12 Yo The Sweet Toast of American Oak Single Malt Scotch Whisky 0,7L 43%
The Balvenie 12 Year Old The Sweet Toast of American Oak Single Malt Scotch Whisky 0.7L 43% Balvenie Distillery The Balvenie distillery is also a whisky distillery based in Dufftown, Scotland. It was founded at the end of the 19th century by William J. Grant, who, if you know a little about the world of whisky, is also known as the founder of Glenfiddich and near whom the Balvenie distillery is also located. At first, whisky was produced specifically for the company's own blending. In 1973, single malt was bottled as standard for the first time. Peated whisky has been produced again since 2002. The Balvenie Stories The whisky range, which has been around since 2019 and is also strictly limited, has already included a 14YO 'The Weak of Peat' and a 26YO 'A Day of Dark Barley'. Now there is a third representative of the range and it is a fairly young single malt Scotch whisky. Each individual whisky in the limited edition is intended to represent the development of the renowned distillery. The 12 YO 'The Sweet Toast of American Oak' is a single malt that combines complex aromas with fruity-sweet notes. The beautiful design of the bottle packaging provides some information about this. For example, it can be found out that the maturation took place first in ex-bourbon barrels and the whisky was then transferred to toasted American oak barrels for further maturation.

The Balvenie The Creation of a Classic Single Malt Scotch Whisky 0,7L 43%
The Balvenie The Creation of a Classic Single Malt Scotch Whisky 0.7L 43% The Balvenie Distillerie The whisky distillery based in Dufftown, Banffshire, Scotland has been producing single malt Scotch whisky since 1892. The Balvenie was founded by none other than William J. Grant, who also founded Glenfiddich, and is located not far from it. In order to save costs, The Balvenie initially used used stills from the Lagavulin and Glen Albyn distilleries; today the distillery has a total of nine stills. David Stewart, who produced for both Glenfiddich and The Balvenie, was responsible for this. The Creation of a Classic Single Malt – the original cask finish With the words 'Probably the finest Highland malt whisky', David C. Stewart MBE once presented the first The Balvenie Classic Single Malt. For the first time, a single malt that had initially been stored in traditional oak casks was filled into Orloroso sherry casks for a finish. Stewart was thus pioneering work in finishing in a wide variety of wooden casks. The taste Firstly, you notice notes of vanilla and a variety of spices on the nose. These are supported by earthy, malty undertones. On the palate, the aromas are complemented by oat syrup, toffee and other spice notes. Oak wood and certain fruity notes, influenced by storage in sherry casks, are also recognizable. The finish is long-lasting and characterized by oak wood notes.
