Barbados is often referred to as the cradle of rum. Thanks to the tropical climate and fertile soil, the island is ideal for growing sugar cane. The production of sugar leads to the creation of molasses, an important raw material for rum production. English merchants on Barbados recognized the potential of rum production early on and built numerous distilleries on the island. The tradition of distilling molasses rum is still alive in Barbados today and fills the locals with pride. The rums are mainly distilled in small pot stills and are characterized by a strong taste with dominant notes of molasses and caramel. The name "Austrian Empire Navy Rum Reserva 1863" goes back to the Albert Michler liqueur, rum and spirit factory, which was founded in 1863 in Buchsdorf, Austrian Silesia. In addition to the well-known Buchsdorfer Magenbitter, the factory also imported and sold numerous overseas rums. After the Second World War, however, the factory had to be closed. Today, Albert Michler Distillery Int. Ltd is based in Bristol, England. The "Austrian Empire Navy Rum Reserva 1863" impressively revives the heritage and history of Albert Michler. This rum is a blend of the finest Barbados rums that have matured in barrels made of American and French oak. It represents typical Barbados rums and is worth a taste.

The Austrian Empire Navy Rum Reserva 1863 is a characteristic Barbados rum that perfectly captures the typical aromas of the island. Intense notes of molasses, caramel and honey unfold on the nose, accompanied by subtle nuances of coconut and bananas. The taste is wonderfully soft and round, with a rich spectrum of tropical fruits, chocolate and vanilla. The strong oak spice notes are skilfully integrated and give the rum additional complexity. By using various oak barrels, sweet aromas such as vanilla, caramel and toffee blend harmoniously with the tart, dry nuances of dark chocolate and coffee.

The Austrian Empire Navy Rum Reserva 1863 impresses with its velvety, viscous mouthfeel and a long-lasting finish, characterized by honey, oak and tobacco.

Austrian Empire Navy Rum Anniversary 0.7L 40% Where does Austrian Rum actually come from? Caribbean, Austria or perhaps England? If you look into the history behind Austrian Rum, you'll find that all three are correct. It doesn't originally come from Europe, but was delivered to Austria by the Albert Michler Distillery in Barbados, Caribbean, to supply the Austrian royal family in the 19th century. It was only many years later that the company was reopened by successors in Bristol, Great Britain. Many special editions from various rum producers or bottlers have been produced specifically for a special occasion, be it a brand anniversary, a political or seasonal event, or national celebrations. This also applies to Austrian's Empire Navy Rum Anniversary. It was specially produced for the 100th anniversary of the separation of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Aromatically, this blend has a lot to offer. By combining barrel contents of different ages, a good balance has been created. The nose reveals an extremely round aroma with seductive notes of vanilla and fresh fruit as well as a hint of Caribbean influence, coconut. In the taste, the fruity notes are then clearly recognizable as tropical fruits with a very pleasant sweetness. A hint of dark chocolate coating also resonates in the background. The pleasantly subtle sweetness is also present in the finish, leaving a warm, long finish together with spicy wood notes.
