Background information on Akashi Meisei:

While Japanese whiskeys were considered exotic and inferior to the Scottish model until a few years ago, this opinion has now fundamentally changed. Connoisseurs have been aware of the high quality of Japanese whiskeys since Bill Murray named a Japanese whiskey the best in the world for the first time in 2015. In addition to the constant pursuit of perfection and the insistence on traditional values, the outstanding blending skills of Japanese whiskey masters are the basis for the current trend. Nowhere else in the world are blended whiskeys as complex and harmonious as in the land of the rising sun.

One of the quality beacons is the White Oak distillery, which was licensed in 1919 and is located near the city of Kobe. As with many Japanese distilleries, however, they initially limited themselves to the production of sake and shochu. The whisky era only began in 1984 at the White Oak distillery.

The flagship of the distillery is the Akashi Meisei. Elaborately blended from grain and single malt whisky and matured for many years in American oak barrels, it has a full-bodied and extremely complex taste and aroma profile.

The Akashi Meisei is actually only intended for the French market. However, we have spared no expense or effort and are now fortunately able to offer you a small selection of this exceptional whisky. It is definitely worth taking a look.

Taste of the Akashi Meisei:

The Akashi Meisei initially shows a pleasant, malty sweetness in the nosing. Butter biscuits, toast and malted grain set the aromatic tone. Notes of vanilla, honey and cream toffee further underline the sweetness. Spicy oak wood comes to the fore over time and completes the harmonious interplay in an extremely elegant way.

On the tongue, the Akashi Meisei is again malty. Toasted bread, sponge cake and full malt flavor rush forward powerfully and inexorably. Then a creamy sweetness with notes of vanilla, candied fruit and biscuits spreads. The velvety mouthfeel is extremely successful and remains in the memory for a long time. The spicy oak wood is also not long in coming and forms a harmonious conclusion.

Overall, the Akashi Meisei is characterized by a full-bodied sweetness and oak notes, which makes it incredibly drinkable.

Akashi White Oak Japanese Whisky 0.5L 40% Eigashima Shuzo, the sake and shochu producer, which also operates the White Oak distillery, has been in the whisky business for a long time. The company dates back to 1888 and began selling whisky in the late 1910s. However, Japanese whisky production at that time was still relatively experimental before Taketsuru moved to Scotland to learn the art of proper production. The modern era of the Eigashima distillery began in 1984, when the current distillery was built in Hyogo Prefecture. This excellent blended whisky combines Eigashima's years of experience with the latest distilling techniques. The result is a dark golden whisky, full of aromas of herbs, tropical fruits and powdered sugar. In the mouth, the whisky is malty and very present. The long, warming aftertaste is characterized by malt and delicate oak. A good introduction to the world of Japanese whiskey!

Suntory Blended Japanese Whisky Toki 0,7L 43%
Suntory Blended Japanese Whisky Toki 0,7L 43%
Suntory Blended Japanese Whisky Toki 0.7L 43% The House of Suntory In 1923, the founding house of Japanese whisky was founded by Shinjiro Torii. He wanted to produce a whisky that combined the tradition of Japanese craftsmanship and the essence of Japanese nature. Initially, he was inspired by the good Scottish whisky that was known worldwide until then. However, he quickly found a Japanese approach that was completely different in climate and region from those in Scotland. Torii chose the Yamazaki region, on the outskirts of Kyoto, which is known for being the source of some of the purest water, making it the perfect basis for an exceptionally good whisky. Since its founding, Suntory has become the most awarded Japanese whisky company thanks to its artisanal production in its distilleries and its select blenders. Suntory is primarily known for its outstanding single malts, but every now and then it also produces a very good blend. 'Toki' is one of these blends and consists of specially selected whiskies from the world-famous Hakushu, Yamazaki and Chita distilleries, all of which come from Suntory. Hakushu chose Hakushu American White Oak Cask Malt Whisky, along with Chita Heavy-Type Grain Whiskey. Both have special aromas, the Hakushu, for example, has fresh, green apple tones, while the Chita whisky has the more typical notes of vanilla and oak. Grain whiskies also play a role. The golden tone of the whisky immediately catches the eye. You immediately realize that this bottle contains a very special curd. The main notes on the nose are basil, which is quite unusual for a whisky, but harmonizes perfectly with those of green apple and honey. Sweet, malty grain notes are also added. The palate is beautifully balanced and the sweetness of the nose remains here, along with juicy citrus notes, and the smoky oak is also a bit more dominant here. Suntory Whisky Toki is a rather light and gentle whisky that is definitely worth trying.

Tenjaku Blended Whisky 0.7L 40% Japan Who hasn't seen the picturesque mountainous region around Mount Fuji in Japan? Tenjaku, not just the name of the whisky, but a town to the east of Kofu, in the Yamanashi region, is a very fertile land. High mountains and, above all, peach orchards and vineyards characterise the landscape. Tenjaku Blended Whisky A wonderful blend of single malt and grain whisky. After distillation, it is diluted with clear mountain spring water to a pleasant drinking strength of 40% vol. Light enjoyment, that is also what the label reflects. It depicts a sign of the harbinger of spring, Hibari, which in German best approximates the word Feldleche. The whisky should also reflect the freshness of spring and light enjoyment. The aroma has subtle smoky notes and a slight sweetness. On the palate, as expected, it is very mild and velvety soft. Vanilla, caramel and honey further refine the taste. Sweet fruit notes and oak notes round off the finish.

This makes the whisky extremely delicate after a relatively short maturation period. The aroma is very mild with notes of vanilla, honey, sweet cereals, a hint of white pepper, fresh herbs and a hint of apples and peat. On the palate, aromas of apples, chocolate, peaches, light vanilla, a pinch of cinnamon and white pepper unfold, accompanied by a hint of peat. The finish is medium-long and characterized by notes of brown sugar, vanilla, honey, cinnamon and oak.
